Four Peaks Wilderness Area
Four peaks wilderness area is an island of pine sitting high above the desert valleys below. Relatively close to the Phoenix metro area, this is a popular destination. The drive up to the trailhead areas is a long one however. It doesn't take that long to get from the Phoenix metro area to the forest service road that takes you from the pavement up to the trailheads, but that last 20 miles of forest service road will take you a good hour. Still, it is well worth the trip to get up into the cooler air and into the shade of the pine trees. The vistas are pretty good too!

Two friends, Dave (on the left) and Koos, came with me on this hike.

This is a blue tailed skink. One of the pretties lizards I've seen! I have seen these elsewhere, so it was fun to get this picute.

This is me, myself, and I, somewhere along Four Peaks Trail.

There are a few springs up in the Four Peaks Wilderness Area, and this is one of them. It was not running when I was there...

A view of Rooseveldt Lake, as seen from along Four Peaks trail.

Here I am, again. I seem to manage to get into lots of pictures.

This is a picture of the "Willow Fire", which, sadly, was burning while we were up at Four Peaks.
