Mount Woolsey
Mount Woolsey Wilderness Area is a very strange and odd place. It is also very remote. It is strange and odd because all of the rocks are volcanic and are very black. It makes the whole landscape look very surreal. In places, the whole ground is black. In other places light grass sets off the black rocks. Hiking is tough -- there are no trails and the terrain is rugged. Well worth it, however.

This is my dad, at the sign demarking the wilderness area.

Here are my dad and brother, standing in a very old (800+years?) Hohokam ruin. It is right beside the road.

Two cactuses.

This is Mount Woolsey.

Mount Woolsey again.

This cactus has seen better days.

Three different colors of rock, all together.

This is my brother and I in front of some red rock.

This is a working, functional wind mill (near the road). It is actually pumping water.

Water in the desert!
